Ken Jones is a nonprofit CFO working to help organizations achieve their mission while making strategic decisions and ensuring financial sustainability.
With over 25 years of experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, administration, human resources and operations, he has the skills and experience to provide a wide range of solutions to nonprofit organizations. In 2013, Ken opened his consulting practice and began providing finance and human resources consulting to clients including a fiscal sponsor, an environmental communications firm, and an organization providing mediation and facilitation on environmental issues. In this role, Ken has developed tools for evaluating the financial health of these organizations and building systems to provide data for making decisions. In addition, Ken is able to use his background in human resources to work develop fringe benefits programs, performance management systems, and compensation strategies.
Prior to opening his practice, Ken was the CFO/COO for Resource Media in San Francisco for 7 years. Ken provided timely financial projections and human resources expertise that enabled the organization to make strategic decisions during their early growth stages and helped navigate the organization through the most recent economic recession. As the Director of Finance and Administration for the Stuart Foundation, Ken directed the financial reporting for their operations and the investment portfolio. Early in his career, Ken held management positions with Community Gatepath, the San Francisco Zoo, and the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. Ken has a B.A. from the University of Chicago and also attended the University of Chicago-Graduate School of Business.
In his free time, Ken is an avid cyclist and swimmer and a baseball fanatic. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Wendy, and two wonderful teenagers.
